2007-08 Summit Planning Committee

Planning for the 2007-08 Summit on Human Dignity began in March of 2007.  The following faculty and staff members served on the planning committee:


Assistant Principal for Ministry

Mrs. Baldwin grew up in Phoenix and attended Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. After graduating she volunteered one year with Holy Cross Associates in Colorado. Mrs. Baldwin graduated from The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley with a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) in 2005. She then worked in Campus Ministry at the Newman Center at ASU. Mrs. Baldwin came to Brophy in 2006 teaching theology and working in campus ministry.  In her current role as Assistant Principal for Ministry Mrs. Baldwin teaches Gospels in Action and oversees the Office of Faith and Justice which facilitates all programs related to faith formation on campus: liturgies, retreats, service programs, community outreach, and our Summit on Human Dignity.

Mr. Broyles grew up in Phoenix. He attended Arizona State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in Secondary Education. He and his wife lived and worked in Mexico and Central America for five years, and he currently coordinates Brophy’s El Salvador trip. He has taught English at Brophy since 1993.
Currently Mr. Broyles teaches in the English and Religious Studies Departments as well as working in the Office of Faith and Justice.

Like many of his Brophy colleagues, F. Douglas Brown started his teaching career eleven years ago at his alma mater, Archbishop Riordan High School, an all-boys Marianist school in San Francisco, CA. While at Riordan he coached football and basketball.  Mr. Brown has lived in the valley for the past four years, having taught most recently at GateWay Early College, Mesa Community College, as well as El Dorado High School in Chandler.  

Mr. Brown has a BA in English from Santa Clara University ( ’94) and a MA in Literature and Creative Writing from the San Francisco State University (’01).  As a graduate student at SFSU, he taught Creative Writing and Creative Non-Fiction for three semesters to undergraduates.

He is a published poet and enjoys participating in poetry readings whenever possible.   He has two children, Isaiah and Olivia.

Patti Franz is a native of northern California, having grown up in Daly City and in San Jose, where she was introduced to the Jesuits of Holy Family Parish.  After earning a B.S. degree in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis, she spent 10 years with Intel Corporation in Manufacturing Planning and Marketing Administration groups before transferring to Arizona with her husband and family.  Patti spent 12 years working with children ages 3-12 in the religious formation program, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and then returned to school to complete a M.A. in Theology through the University of San Francisco.  She and her husband, Tom, have two sons, Brian ’08 and Scott ’10, both of whom attend Brophy.  She joined Brophy in January 2006 as Director of Development.

Mr. Gaimari earned a BA in History from Boston College in 2004 and is currently in the process of finishing work on a Master’s degree in Secondary Education Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University.  Originally from Elmwood Park, Illinois, Mr. Gaimari has been a member of the Brophy faculty since 2006.  Before coming to Brophy, Mr. Gaimari worked at C.O. Greenfield Middle School in south Phoenix as a member of the non-profit TeachForAmerica organization.  Mr. Gaimari currently teaches Western Civilization II and AP European History to sophomores.  He is also the assistant varsity wrestling coach and a freshmen football coach.

A native of Sacramento, CA, Martin graduated from Jesuit High School in 2000.  In 2006 he graduated from Fordham University with Honors double majoring in Philosophy and English.  While in college, he studied at Trinity College in Dublin for a year.  Martin has been a teacher at Brophy since 2006.
