Attention all Xavier and Brophy students:  Auditions for Xavier’s Spring Semester musical, Working, are coming up.  Auditions will be held the first week we come back in January.  Preliminary auditions are on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, January 7, 8, and 9.  Nominated for 6 Tony Awards, this special musical will highlight your acting, singing, and dancing skills as we learn about what it is to be a worker in America.  Audition packets are available on the xcp.org website.  Go to the website, click on “Students”, scroll down to “Student Quick Links”, and click on the Audition Packet.  Auditions TODAY, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be held in the Xavier Drama Room.  The dance auditions will be held in the main theatre on Thursday. Carefully read and follow the prompts you’ll find within the audition packet. If you have any questions, please see or contact Ms. Robillard at Xavier.

Oodles of fun for everyone!  Don’t be shy!  Come audition!!

BST SKETCH COMEDY SHOW – Hey Broncos, do you enjoy laughing? Crying? Crying because you’re laughing so hard? Then Brophy Student Theatre’s The Bronco Room, an SNL-style sketch comedy show, could be the show for you. Take a stroll into Brophy’s Black box this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 7 p.m. for a night of jokes, jokes, and guess what? More jokes. Best of all, admission is just a can of food at the door, so it won’t seem like you’re paying actual money, and you’ll feel like a good person, because all that food is going to charity. It’s a win win for everybody at BST’s The Bronco Room.

We invite you to join us at the performance of Tolton: From Slave to Priest, an original one-man live drama performed by actor Jim Coleman and produced by Saint Luke Productions. This professional production will be presented at Brophy College Preparatory on Tuesday, January 15, 7 p.m., Black Box Theater; coordinated by Dr. Matthew Whitaker and Brophy’s Office of Equity and Inclusion.  In Tolton, audiences encounter firsthand the life and message of Fr. Augustus Tolton, the first African American Catholic priest. Born a slave, ordained a priest in Rome, and sent to minister in Chicago, Fr. Tolton faced prejudice throughout his life. However, he also saw that the Catholic Church was the antidote to the discrimination he experienced. “It was the priests of the Church who taught me to pray and to forgive my persecutors,” he said. “We should welcome all people into the Church, not send them away.”  Fr. Tolton’s compelling story of courage and reconciliation resonates deeply with modern American audiences. Bishop Joseph Perry of Chicago, postulator for Fr. Tolton’s canonization cause, is calling Tolton a production that will “inspire a new era of peace, hope, and forgiveness in America.”  Tolton: From Slave to Priest is a perfect opportunity for our communities to come together. We are very fortunate to have this caliber of theater at our parish, and I hope that you will join us for this inspiring event. If you have any questions or would like a flyer or poster to help promote this event, please contact Dr. Matthew Whitaker, Ph.D., Director, Office of Equity and Inclusion at mwhitaker@brophyprep.org.  Admission: Free-Will Offering  TRAILER – Video URL  https://youtu.be/4vd3TGM94mE  75 minutes / Recommended for ages 10 & up.
