CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY SWIM/DIVE, they win again; Brophy 136, Boulder Creek 50

CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY GOLF TEAM for their 2nd place finish in the Dobson Classic.  The Broncos finished the 36-hole, 22 team event at 3 under par.  The team was led by junior Zack Missigman, posting a two-day total of 6 under par, placing him 3rd in as an individual.

CONGRATULATIONS JV FOOTBALL who brings home another “W” against Hamilton with a 42-14 final score!

Red & White Club – There is an important meeting for all members of the Red & White Club on Friday at break in Harper Hall. Mr. Ward will be going over the plan for our annual Open House (November 4) which is about a month away. If you cannot attend, please email Mrs. Scheuring at sscheuring@brophyprep.org

Red Army Black T-shirts – Varsity FB tonight’s game is a BLACKOUT!  The Varsity shop is selling, black Red Army t-shirts with proceeds going to support Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Pediatric Cancer Awareness.  Shirts are selling fast, and once they are gone, they are gone forever!  T-shirts are $20 each.

TONIGHT, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, GO FOR GOLD The time has finally come: It’s Go for Gold Week! Let’s all step up, step in and stop cancer by helping to fund Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s cancer research efforts.  You can start by purchasing one of the limited edition Brophy Go for Gold shirts, available now in the Varsity shop for $20. All of the proceeds will go directly to PCH. Act quickly – they’ll be gone soon!

Then, make sure to wear that same shirt on Friday (it’s a blackout!) when your Brophy Varsity football team takes on Hamilton High School at 7:00 p.m. at Phoenix College. After the game join us back at Brophy from 9:30-11:00. We’ve got everyone’s favorite senior band The Stickmen performing, a movie on the lawn, raffles and games for PCH, and food. Did we mention it’s free? We will only be accepting donations directly to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  So join us on Friday as we step up, step in, and stop cancer!

VOTING DISCUSSIONS – Important Mid-Term Elections are right around the corner and there will be weekly activities to teach, learn, and discuss the important issues that voters will decide. The first meeting will be in the Great Hall Next Tuesday, Oct 2nd at lunch. Ms. Guffey and Mr. Molander will present. All are welcome and you, of course, may bring your lunch. BLOOD DRIVE – This year’s blood drive is here (October 2) and the Blood Drive team would love your help! We are looking for 75 generous students and/or parents to donate to this year’s blood drive! JESUIT HERITAGE WEEK Next week, let’s celebrate the history, heroic leadership, and hard work of the Society of Jesus with a few exhibits, activities, and experiences of how the inspiration of St. Ignatius of Loyola is still alive and well here at Brophy and beyond.

CONGRATULATIONS Coach Chris’ Freshman Tennis Team continued their win streak by beating Desert Mountain 6-3 at the Phoenix Tennis Center.  Kyle Andrews and Nick Maroulis won their singles and doubles matches.  Important contributions were made by Josh Lewis, Christian Smith, Ryan Koeninger, and Jack Strichartz who all won.  The next home match will be Thursday, September 27.  First serve at 3:30. It would be great if the Red Army could show up and help the Freshman Tennis Team defeat a very talented Hamilton team.

Stop the Stigma Event – You probably have noticed by now that on the back of your ID’s there is the Teen Lifeline number. Stop the Stigma will be hosting Teen Lifeline TODAY at Lunch, HGH. This will be the first Stop the Stigma event of the year and we would love for you to come and learn about all the options you have if you are struggling with Mental Illness or want to know how to spread awareness or offer support.

Yearbook Photo Makeup/Retake Day this Friday for Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen, Faculty and Staff –If you did not take an I.D./Yearbook photo at orientation for any reason or you are not satisfied with your current proof pic, your next opportunity will be Friday, September 28, in the SAC (before school/break/after school until 1:30 p.m.).  You MUST bring the proof packet with you if you are doing a retake.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Dennard.

Red Army Black T-shirts – Friday night’s game is a BLACKOUT!  The Varsity shop is selling, black Red Army t-shirts with proceeds going to support Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Pediatric Cancer Awareness.  Shirts are selling fast, and once they are gone, they are gone forever!  T-shirts are $20 each.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, GO FOR GOLD The time has finally come: It’s Go for Gold Week! Let’s all step up, step in and stop cancer by helping to fund Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s cancer research efforts.  You can start by purchasing one of the limited edition Brophy Go for Gold shirts, available now in the Varsity shop for $20. All of the proceeds will go directly to PCH. Act quickly – they’ll be gone soon!

Then, make sure to wear that same shirt on Friday (it’s a blackout!) when your Brophy Varsity football team takes on Hamilton High School at 7:00pm at Phoenix College. After the game join us back at Brophy from 9:30-11:00. DEADLINE TODAY – Juniors and Seniors – If you are interested in technology and see yourself working with tech in college and potentially a career, please consider applying for our fourth installment of the Brophy/Xavier “Tek Trek” bus tour.  On Friday, October 19 at 10 a.m., select Brophy students will join select Xavier students on a tour of several local technology companies. Companies on the tour are still being finalized but will be leaders in the Valley for technology and entrepreneurialism. See “behind the scenes” in tech and learn from industry leaders. We have previously visited companies like GoDaddy, WebPT, Galvanize, GM, and PADT. VOTING DISCUSSIONS – Important Mid-Term Elections are right around the corner and there will be weekly activities to teach, learn, and discuss the important issues that voters will decide. HOCKEY RESULTS – This past weekend Varsity battled back and forth w/Hamilton Huskies and were tied at the end of the 2nd period, and then with 4:33 left to go in the 3rd, Hamilton took the lead. We lost 2-4, with our 2 goals going to Jack Allen and Nick Thomson and an assist to Dean Angelo.  JV lost to Mountain Ridge Lions, 1-3, with Kaiden Linse scoring his first career goal, and Peter Warner getting the assist. Go Broncos!

Lifetouch/PRESTIGE has mailed brochures with package information and postcards to Senior parents with unique appointment codes on the back asking senior students to schedule their photo sessions on the Prestige website PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM. In addition to the website URL, parents can get in touch with Samantha Minton, The Senior Coordinator directly at sminton@lifetouch.com.  The postcards have the following information: “Schedule your session at PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM and use your unique code”.  It also says that you can “Save 10% on the Ultimate Session when you confirm online.  Promo code JHTL-offer expires 12/18”.

On Saturday, September 29 only,  Make up images with Mass Dress and a dark colored coat will have to be done at the Lifetouch studio,  16033 N. 77th Street, Suite 2A, Scottsdale, AZ. These appointments will be Auto Scheduled not self-scheduled.

CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY GOLF TEAM for taking 2nd place in the 52 team Bart Granger memorial tournament in Fort Worth, Texas.  The team played well finishing the 36 holes’ event at even par, just one shot behind the winner.  All 5 Brophy players finished the 250 player field in the top 35, with 3 finishing in the top 10.  Congrats to Nate Anderson, Tony Hendricks, Jackson Vickers, Zack Missigman and Cameron Kaiser for the solid play.

CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY MOUNTAIN BIKE TEAM for taking 4th place in yesterday’s race in Prescott. Broncos nearly swept the podium in the JV2 division taking 1st-4th (Aidan Schwartz, Jesse Beeth, Mark Rossbach, and Sam Wright) and 6th place (Jonathon Weskalnies) in a field of 71

CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY SWIM TEAM who won the Brophy Swim Invitational with 461 points.  ALSO, “USA Swimming has announced its All-American swimmers for 2017-18 and earning the distinction from Brophy are Mateja Milovanovic ’20 and Parker Hughes ’19. To be considered for the Scholastic All-American Team, a student must maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA and post a time equal to a 2017 Junior Olympic qualifying time in any event. Stop the Stigma Event – You probably have noticed by now that on the back of your ID’s there is the Teen Lifeline number. Stop the Stigma will be hosting Teen Lifeline Wednesday, September 26th at Lunch in the Great Hall. This will be the first Stop the Stigma event of the year and we would love for you to come and learn about all the options you have if you are struggling with Mental Illness or want to know how to spread awareness or offer support.

Juniors and Seniors – If you are interested in technology and see yourself working with tech in college and potentially a career, please consider applying for our fourth installment of the Brophy/Xavier “Tek Trek” bus tour.

On Friday, October 19 at 10 a.m., select Brophy students will join select Xavier students on a tour of several local technology companies. Companies on the tour are still being finalized but will be leaders in the Valley for technology and entrepreneurialism. See “behind the scenes” in tech and learn from industry leaders. We have previously visited companies like GoDaddy, WebPT, Galvanize, GM, and PADT. The tour will return to school at 3:30 PM.  If you are interested in this opportunity apply no later than 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26.

For the convenience of our seniors and their families, Brophy is bringing the senior portrait studio experience to campus. Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch, this year’s official photographer, will set up its studio in Harper Great Hall Sept. 25 and Sept. 26. The senior portrait experience will include a complimentary portrait session with four poses in a student’s yearbook outfit (mass dress with a dark-colored coat added) and four poses in cap and gown. Please note: It is mandatory that each student has a yearbook photo taken. This photo will appear in the 2019 yearbook, as well as in the 2019 class composite photo that will hang in Brophy Hall. In addition to the yearbook and cap and gown poses, additional upgraded sessions with clothing suggestions will be available. These options will be explained in upcoming communications. Proofs will be mailed and emailed to you about three weeks after your photography session. You will be able to easily view and select your yearbook image online.  Yearbook images and all portrait orders will be automatically retouched.  For your convenience, your yearbook image will be sent directly to the school.

BLOOD DRIVE – This year’s blood drive is right around the corner and the Blood Drive team would love your help! We are looking for 75 generous students and/or parents to donate to this year’s blood drive! If you are interested and 16 years old or older, please fill out the google from HERE! Please follow the steps below to make sure that your sign up is valid! As soon as your sign up has been confirmed you will be sent a confirmation email. If you have any questions at all please feel free to email Mr. Oldani or pjackson19@brophybroncos.org

  2. Import the permission slip into notability

CONGRATULATIONS FRESHMENT TENNIS COACH CHRIS CAMPBELL’S TEAM who made the long trip to Basha and came home with another big win.  Everyone played an essential role in the 9-0 win.  8-0 shutouts were put up by Josh Lewis, Reece Grell, Liam Chanin and JC Solorio in singles and the doubles team of Liam Chanin and Cal Wright.  The boys would love to see the Red Army at one of the remaining home matches at the Phoenix Tennis Center.  Our next home match is Tuesday September 25 @ 3:30. FRESHMEN FOOTBALL RESULTS – Our Freshmen Broncos lost to Cesar Chavez last night.  It was a strong effort but in the end, just a tough game.  The boys are resilient and back at practice this morning looking towards playing Hamilton next week.

On Friday, October 19 at 10 a.m., select Brophy students will join select Xavier students on a tour of several local technology companies. Companies on the tour are still being finalized but will be leaders in the Valley for technology and entrepreneurialism. See “behind the scenes” in tech and learn from industry leaders. We have previously visited companies like GoDaddy, WebPT, Galvanize, GM, and PADT. Stock Market Game: If you want to play in the Stock Market Competition you need to register this week. Pay your $10 fee to the business office, then bring your receipt and yellow registration form to Ms. Guffey in B103. For more information, see Ms. Guffey.

The Stock Market Club holds a contest where you invest a virtual $100,000 in stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.  Registration is $10 per person. You will compete with other Brophy students for monthly prizes like gift cards and dance tickets. At the end of the competition, there will be larger prizes for the student that takes 1st, 2nd, and 3rdplace. The contest runs from Oct 1-April 30th. You have to register this week. SENIOR PORTRAITS FOR YEARBOOK AND WALL COMPOSITE – Tuesday, Sept. 25 and Wednesday, Sept. 26 in N/E Harper Great Hall – They are 10 minute sessions for each senior.  Students cannot miss class for these sessions.

Lifetouch/PRESTIGE has mailed brochures with package information and postcards to Senior parents with unique appointment codes on the back asking senior students to schedule their photo sessions on the Prestige website PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM. In addition to the website URL, parents can get in touch with Samantha Minton, Senior Coordinator directly at sminton@lifetouch.com.  The postcards have the following information: “Schedule your session at: PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM and use your unique code”.  It also says that you can “Save 10% on the Ultimate Session when you confirm online.  Promo code JHTL-offer expires: 12/18”.

For the convenience of our seniors and their families, Brophy is bringing the senior portrait studio experience to campus. Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch, this year’s official photographer, will set up its studio in Harper Great Hall Sept. 25 and Sept. 26. The senior portrait experience will include a complimentary portrait session with four poses in a student’s yearbook outfit (mass dress with a dark-colored coat added) and four poses in cap and gown. Please note: It is mandatory that each student has a yearbook photo taken. This photo will appear in the 2019 yearbook, as well as in the 2019 class composite photo that will hang in Brophy Hall. In addition to the yearbook and cap and gown poses, additional upgraded sessions with clothing suggestions will be available. These options will be explained in upcoming communications. Proofs will be mailed and emailed to you about three weeks after your photography session. You will be able to easily view and select your yearbook image online.  Yearbook images and all portrait orders will be automatically retouched.  For your convenience, your yearbook image will be sent directly to the school.

Brophy Black Student Union (BSU)  – The APPLICATION for the Jack and Jill 2019 Beautillion is now available.

Sign up for the forthcoming HBCU Fair and its specific sessions HERE.  This will help us determine precisely who will attend and how much transportation we need to provide.  You will need $5.00 for lunch.  Space is limited.

Dr. Whitaker is pleased to announce that Brophy’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with our counselors, will take young men to the forthcoming Alpha Kappa Alpha HBCU Fair.  The full day event will be held at Phoenix College on September 26th, 8:30am – 2:00pm.  On the same day they will host a Parent focused event in partnership with Tempe Union High School that will be held at Tempe High School. Lunch will be provided for a nominal fee.  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a supporter of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and each year Delta Beta Omega co-hosts with the Phoenix College NAACP/Black Student Union, a fair for hundreds of valley students, their parents, counselors and advisers. Workshops are given to address many of the issues that these future students will face.  College recruiters and alumni from HBCU’s are also in attendance providing information about the institutions. Students can also get hands on assistance with financial aid and the application process. The colleges that will be represented will include:  Alcorn State University, Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Bethune Cookman College, Florida A&M University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Prairie View A&M University and Tuskegee University.  Please contact Dr. Whitaker as soon as possible if you would like to attend.  Space is limited.

BLOOD DRIVE – This year’s blood drive is right around the corner and the Blood Drive team would love your help! SENIOR PORTRAITS FOR YEARBOOK AND WALL COMPOSITE – Tuesday, Sept. 25 and Wednesday, Sept. 26 in N/E Harper Great Hall – They are 10 minute sessions for each senior.  Students cannot miss class for these sessions.

Lifetouch/PRESTIGE has mailed brochures with package information and postcards to Senior parents with unique appointment codes on the back asking senior students to schedule their photo sessions on the Prestige website PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM. In addition to the website URL, parents can get in touch with Samantha Minton, Senior Coordinator directly at sminton@lifetouch.com.  The postcards have the following information: “Schedule your session at: PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM and use your unique code”.  It also says that you can “Save 10% on the Ultimate Session when you confirm online.  Promo code JHTL-offer expires: 12/18”.

On Saturday, September 29 only,  Make up images with Mass Dress and a dark colored coat will have to be done at the Lifetouch studio,  16033 N. 77th Street, Suite 2A, Scottsdale, AZ. These appointments will be Auto Scheduled not self-scheduled.

NOTE:  All environmental sessions and upgrades are intended to be photographed at a later time on Brophy’s Campus.  

For the convenience of our seniors and their families, Brophy is bringing the senior portrait studio experience to campus. Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch, this year’s official photographer, will set up its studio in Harper Great Hall Sept. 25 and Sept. 26. The senior portrait experience will include a complimentary portrait session with four poses in a student’s yearbook outfit (mass dress with a dark-colored coat added) and four poses in cap and gown. Please note: It is mandatory that each student has a yearbook photo taken. This photo will appear in the 2019 yearbook, as well as in the 2019 class composite photo that will hang in Brophy Hall. In addition to the yearbook and cap and gown poses, additional upgraded sessions with clothing suggestions will be available. These options will be explained in upcoming communications. Proofs will be mailed and emailed to you about three weeks after your photography session. You will be able to easily view and select your yearbook image online.  Yearbook images and all portrait orders will be automatically retouched.  For your convenience, your yearbook image will be sent directly to the school.

Brophy Black Student Union (BSU)  – The APPLICATION for the Jack and Jill 2019 Beautillion is now available.

Sign up for the forthcoming HBCU Fair and its specific sessions HERE.  This will help us determine precisely who will attend and how much transportation we need to provide.  You will need $5.00 for lunch.  Space is limited.

Dr. Whitaker is pleased to announce that Brophy’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with our counselors, will take young men to the forthcoming Alpha Kappa Alpha HBCU Fair.  The full day event will be held at Phoenix College on September 26th, 8:30am – 2:00pm.  On the same day they will host a Parent focused event in partnership with Tempe Union High School that will be held at Tempe High School. Lunch will be provided for a nominal fee.  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a supporter of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and each year Delta Beta Omega co-hosts with the Phoenix College NAACP/Black Student Union, a fair for hundreds of valley students, their parents, counselors and advisers. Workshops are given to address many of the issues that these future students will face.  College recruiters and alumni from HBCU’s are also in attendance providing information about the institutions. Students can also get hands on assistance with financial aid and the application process. The colleges that will be represented will include:  Alcorn State University, Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Bethune Cookman College, Florida A&M University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Prairie View A&M University and Tuskegee University.  Please contact Dr. Whitaker as soon as possible if you would like to attend.  Space is limited.

BLOOD DRIVE – This year’s blood drive is right around the corner and the Blood Drive team would love your help! We are looking for 75 generous students and/or parents to donate to this year’s blood drive! If you are interested and 16 years old or older, please fill out the google from HERE! Please follow the steps below to make sure that your sign up is valid! As soon as your sign up has been confirmed you will be sent a confirmation email. Stock Market Game: If you want to play in the Stock Market Competition you need to register this week. Pay your $10 fee to the business office, then bring your receipt and yellow registration form to Ms. Guffey in B103. For more information, see Ms. Guffey.

The Stock Market Club holds a contest where you invest a virtual $100,000 in stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.  Registration is $10 per person. You will compete with other Brophy students for monthly prizes like gift cards and dance tickets. At the end of the competition, there will be larger prizes for the student that takes 1st, 2nd, and 3rdplace. The contest runs from Oct 1-April 30th. You have to register this week. You can pick up registration forms from Ms. Guffey in B103

YEARBOOK PHOTO PROOFS – You should have received your Yearbook Photo Proofs in your 6th period class.  If not, please check with your 6th period teacher.  Give these packets to your parents for orders or retakes.  If you did not take an I.D./Yearbook photo at orientation for any reason or you are not satisfied with your current proof pic, your next opportunity will be Friday, September 28, in the SAC at Yearbook Photo Makeup/Retake Day (before school/break/after school).  You MUST bring the proof packet with you if you are doing a retake.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Dennard.

YEARBOOK PHOTO PROOFS – You should have received your Yearbook Photo Proofs in your 6th period class.  If not, please check with your 6th period teacher.  Give these packets to your parents for orders or retakes.  If you did not take an I.D./Yearbook photo at orientation for any reason or you are not satisfied with your current proof pic, your next opportunity will be Friday, September 28, in the SAC at Yearbook Photo Makeup/Retake Day (before school/break/after school).  You MUST bring the proof packet with you if you are doing a retake.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Dennard.

SENIOR PORTRAITS FOR YEARBOOK AND WALL COMPOSITE – Tuesday, Sept. 25 and Wednesday, Sept. 26 in N/E Harper Great Hall – They are 10 minute sessions for each senior.  Students cannot miss class for these sessions.

Lifetouch/PRESTIGE has mailed brochures with package information and postcards to Senior parents with unique appointment codes on the back asking senior students to schedule their photo sessions on the Prestige website PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM. In addition to the website URL, parents can get in touch with Samantha Minton, Senior Coordinator directly at sminton@lifetouch.com.  The postcards have the following information: “Schedule your session at: PRESTIGEPORTRAITS.COM and use your unique code”.  It also says that you can “Save 10% on the Ultimate Session when you confirm online.  Promo code JHTL-offer expires: 12/18”.

On Saturday, September 29 only,  Make up images with Mass Dress and a dark colored coat will have to be done at the Lifetouch studio,  16033 N. 77th Street, Suite 2A, Scottsdale, AZ. These appointments will be Auto Scheduled not self-scheduled.

NOTE:  All environmental sessions and upgrades are intended to be photographed at a later time on Brophy’s Campus.  

For the convenience of our seniors and their families, Brophy is bringing the senior portrait studio experience to campus. Prestige Portraits by Lifetouch, this year’s official photographer, will set up its studio in Harper Great Hall Sept. 25 and Sept. 26. The senior portrait experience will include a complimentary portrait session with four poses in a student’s yearbook outfit (mass dress with a dark-colored coat added) and four poses in cap and gown. Please note: It is mandatory that each student has a yearbook photo taken. This photo will appear in the 2019 yearbook, as well as in the 2019 class composite photo that will hang in Brophy Hall. In addition to the yearbook and cap and gown poses, additional upgraded sessions with clothing suggestions will be available. These options will be explained in upcoming communications. Proofs will be mailed and emailed to you about three weeks after your photography session. You will be able to easily view and select your yearbook image online.  Yearbook images and all portrait orders will be automatically retouched.  For your convenience, your yearbook image will be sent directly to the school.

Brophy Black Student Union (BSU)  – The APPLICATION for the Jack and Jill 2019 Beautillion is now available.

Sign up for the forthcoming HBCU Fair and its specific sessions HERE.  This will help us determine precisely who will attend and how much transportation we need to provide.  You will need $5.00 for lunch.  Space is limited.

Dr. Whitaker is pleased to announce that Brophy’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, in partnership with our counselors, will take young men to the forthcoming Alpha Kappa Alpha HBCU Fair.  The full day event will be held at Phoenix College on September 26th, 8:30am – 2:00pm.  On the same day they will host a Parent focused event in partnership with Tempe Union High School that will be held at Tempe High School. Lunch will be provided for a nominal fee.  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a supporter of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and each year Delta Beta Omega co-hosts with the Phoenix College NAACP/Black Student Union, a fair for hundreds of valley students, their parents, counselors and advisers. Workshops are given to address many of the issues that these future students will face.  College recruiters and alumni from HBCU’s are also in attendance providing information about the institutions. Students can also get hands on assistance with financial aid and the application process. The colleges that will be represented will include:  Alcorn State University, Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Bethune Cookman College, Florida A&M University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Howard University, Prairie View A&M University and Tuskegee University.  Please contact Dr. Whitaker as soon as possible if you would like to attend.  Space is limited.

BLOOD DRIVE – This year’s blood drive is right around the corner and the Blood Drive team would love your help! We are looking for 75 generous students and/or parents to donate to this year’s blood drive! If you are interested and 16 years old or older, please fill out the google from HERE! Please follow the steps below to make sure that your sign up is valid! As soon as your sign up has been confirmed you will be sent a confirmation email. If you have any questions at all please feel free to email Mr. Oldani or pjackson19@brophybroncos.org
