All month, The Wrangler will be tweeting from our account- which you can follow @BrophyWrangler. So, if you’re a fan of satire or memes- go follow us there!

AUDITIONS – Attention all Xavier and Brophy students!  Auditions for Into the Woods are coming up!  Auditions will be the first 4 days when we come back from our Winter Break, January 8 and 9 for preliminary auditions and January 10 and 11 for callbacks.  This is one amazing show!  While it is a musical, not all roles require much singing or dancing.  So, if you’ve ever wanted to try out, now’s the time!  Audition packets for into the Woods are available online.  Go to xcp.org; click “Students” on the upper right side of the home page; find “Downloads” on the right side of the next page; you will find the “Into the Woods” packet ready for you to download.  Any questions?  Please see Ms. Robillard in the Drama Room.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

CONGRATULATIONS ROBOTICS  who won 2nd place at the Bioscience Qualifying Tournament this Saturday! They took the finals to the last game of the best of 3, losing 91 – 94.

CONGRATULATIONS BASKETBALL – The Broncos swept Perry on our home court last Friday night.  Freshman won 58-43; JV won 53-48; and, Varsity won 47-46, an OT victory!

ALSO, VARSITY BASKETBALL beat Boulder Creek at Talking Stick Arena last night. The final score was 63-54.  Our next Varsity game is Wednesday, 12/27/17 at 11:30am at Mt. View for the VisitMesa Challenge versus Rancho Solano Prep.

Las Posadas de Brophy, 12:30 p.m., Graham Plaza and HGH, TOMORROW, Saturday, December 16  – Hosted by the Padres Latinos Unidos de Brophy (PLUB).  Las Posadas is a Mexican Christmas tradition in which a community re-enacts Joseph and Mary’s search for refuge leading up to the birth of Jesus.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

CONGRATULATIONS COACH CATAN AND BROPHY WRESTLING–led by Will Brousek, Dom Dallago, Thomas Derr, and Luke Jacobs–shut out Alhambra 69-0 to notch its 15th dual meet victory of the season.  Broucek pinned a state qualifier and Derr looked strong as he pinned his opponent.  Brophy defeated Central at the tri- meet 59-6. In that dual, Gabe de la Rocha put on a takedown clinic in preparation for his state tournament.  The Broncos compete at the Mile High Challenge on December 28 and 29 in Prescott.

COOKIE DECORATING AND UGLY SWEATER CONTEST – Get ready for the best day before finals!  TODAY at Break Student Council will be hosting a Christmas sweater contest in the plaza!

AT LUNCH in the plaza, STUCO will be having a holiday cookie decorating contest! This contest will be a test of agility, speed and mental toughness. The competition will be judged by Father Del Toro, an expert in the art of holiday cookie decorations. We will take a picture of each decorated cookie and vote on a winner at the end. Cookies and decorative materials will be provided. Swing by the plaza and decorate a cookie!

*LOYOLA ACADEMY DRAMA PRODUCTION – Opening night last night was “the director’s best work so far”.  A must see TODAY, 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., BBT – Do you dig history? Do you dig musical comedy? Do you dig watching middle school scholars performing historical musical comedy? If so, have we got a show for you. Viva La Huelga! The Salad Bowl Strike of 1970. Admission is free.  Loyola Academy’s first dual language production!  It’s gonna be good. It’s gonna be entertaining! It’s gonna be educational! CONGRATULATIONS KNOWLEDGE MASTERS – Last week the Knowledge Master’s Club participated in the first of its biannual competition nationwide. Here are the results: Brophy Ranking results:

  • 14th school nationwide (Out of a total of 167 schools! Top 10%)

CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY WRESTLING – The Brophy Bronco wrestling team went 5-1 in pool competition this weekend to win its pool at the Perry High School Puma Duals this weekend.   Will Brousek, Luke Jacobs, Gabe de la Rocha and Dom Dallago continue to impress the coaches with several superior wins.  In all- 21 teams competed for the top-three spots and Brophy took home to third-place trophy.   The team competes this Wednesday again versus Central and Alhambra at Central.

CONGRATULATIONS BROPHY BASKETBALL The Brophy Varsity Basketball team won the Fr Barry Basketball Classic at Jesuit High School in Sacramento, California this weekend! Well done Broncos!  Congratulations to Jaxson Baker ’18 on being named to the 2017 Father Barry Classic All-Tournament Team!  Congratulations to Ian Burke ’18 on being named the MVP of the 2017 Father Barry Classic!  The next game for all 3 teams is Friday- 12/15 at home against Perry.   GO BRONCOS!!!
