CONGRATULATIONS and SHOUTOUT TO BEN HERSTAM ‘18 – Ben was awarded his EAGLE SCOUT rank at Troop 148’s ceremony on Nov. 22nd.  We are proud of you Ben!

CONGRATULATIONS SOCCER – Both JV and Varsity had strong wins to start the regular season.  JV won 8-1 and Varsity won 3-0 over Gilbert.  Way to go Broncos!

MIDDLE EASTERN CLUB SPEAKER: Curious what Donald Trump’s foreign policy in the Middle East might look like? Come hear Mr. Donlan offer reflections on “Trump and U.S. Policy in the Middle East” this Thursday @ lunch in Mr. Donlan’s room. Cake will be served.

XCP ONE-ACT PLAY AUDITIONS – It is that time of the year again for the annual one-act play auditions over at Xavier! This year’s play is a comedy entitled Bad Auditions by Bad Actors, and tells the story of different actors auditioning for the roles of Romeo and Juliet. More information about auditions and the play can be found in the audition packets located on XCP’s campus, Drama room, PAC 212. Please contact Mr. McCandless with questions.

DIPLOMATIC CORPS – There is a short mandatory meeting on Friday, Dec. 2 of the Diplomatic Corps in Harper Great Hall (NW corner) at BREAK. We will be explaining our help in the annual Brophy E.L.F. Drive.  All Diplomats have been assigned to a team for the E.L.F. drive—either “E”, “L”, or “F”.  Please see your email for your team assignment—you will meet with your team and leaders on Friday for a few minutes to determine who is bringing what from the pantry list. These families are counting on us!

2016 XCP/BCP Christmas Dance — Kingdom of Far Far Away! The dance is Saturday night, December 10th, from 8-11pm on XCP’s campus and promises to be a beautiful, festive, and fun event. There will be a waffle food truck, karaoke, DJ, Hava Java iced lattes & coffee, photo booth, formal portraits, coat check, Krispy Kreme donuts, Christmas treats, and more.

Tickets are $34 each and can only be purchased online at www.xcp.org…just click on the Kingdom of Far Far Away shield logo.

IMPORTANT: the deadline to buy tickets is noon on Friday December 9th. No tickets will be sold after this time, nor will they be sold at the gate.

One non-XCP/BCP guest is allowed per student, for whom a completed Guest Pass must be submitted to the XCP Dean’s office no later than 8am on Friday December 9th. When you indicate online that you’ll be bringing a non-XCP/BCP guest, a link to the Guest Pass form will be emailed to you. Be sure to watch for it! No guest will be admitted without this completed form on file.

Each attendee MUST have his/her printed paper ticket for entry into the dance. Be sure to review the Christmas Dance directives which cover important information, conduct and dress code (the link is on the ticket purchasing page). For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, all attendees are required to comply with these directives.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following members of the Class of 2017 who have been named Scholars by the National Hispanic Recognition Program: Joseph Valencia, Zephan Enciso, Nicholas Riley, Noah Rodriquez, Jeffrey Peterson, Alonso Salas, Damani SamaBorbon, Luis Ochoa, Anthony Cardellini, Jacob Hayes, Luis Romero and Noah Williams.  They scored in the top 2.5% among Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT test takers in our region.  During the past few months they submitted an application and were evaluated and recognized accordingly.

CONGRATULATIONS WRESTLING – The Brophy Prep Wrestling Team opened its season with wins over Westview, Basha, and Gilbert on last Tuesday, November 22.   Brian Olmedo and Luke Jacobs both went 3-0 with impressive wins.  Brophy is 3-0 and travels to Millennium on Wednesday to take on Millennium and Corona del Sol.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES

CONGRATULATIONS MR. TOM MAR AND THE BROPHY CHESS TEAM for a fantastic season!  The final tournament of the season was this past weekend on Brophy campus and 200 of the best AIA chess players in Arizona came to compete to see who was best in the entire state.  After 6 rounds, Dave Mohan took 2nd, Herman Sanghera took 6th, Robbie Coffman took 14th, Daniel Noon took 18th, Josh Gass took 39th, and Lukas Villalba took 40th.  Among the alternates, Frederic Duquella won 7th and Peter Moore won 31st place.  We are a very young team and we can expect to do even better next year.  Great job, Broncos for your first Chess Tournament at Brophy in over 30 years!

CONGRATULATIONS LATIN CLUB – A group of Brophy and Xavier Latin students went to an event at ASU this past Friday with 6 schools in attendance and over 150 students.  While mostly an academic event, our Latin students did very well in the competitive aspects of it and should be congratulated.  Brophy students who attended are Lennon Audrain, Comer Wadzeck, Nathanial Bushong, and Kaiden Linse.  Our Latin Quiz Bowl Team with Lennon Audrain, Comer Wadzeck, Amanda Platt, and Katie Forkner took 3rd place (with multiple teams competing and many schools having more than one team).  They also took a couple of academic tests:  Kaiden Linse 3rd in Latin 2 Vocabulary; Lennon Audrain 3rd in Latin 3 Vocabulary.  Please congratulation Ms. Chabli Balcom, Ms. Serena Crosson and all the Latin Club members.

CONGRATULATIONS MR. KOLB AND THE BROPHY QUIZ BOWL – Last night Brophy continued our winning streak at the Arizona Scholastic Bowl quiz bowl league…this time hosted at Brophy.  Competitors included: Aditya Manuel, Alex Bhatt, Krishna Sinha, Cameron MacKenzie, Nate Ross, Bryan Gopal, Zeyn Waheed, Axell Giovanni Komlan, Rohit Khurana, Nick Laing, Michael Ruta, Nathan Ashok, Ryan Straneva, Harrison Fries and Kevin Yin.  Also, student volunteers ran the competition, as opposed to other schools that use adults.  You would have been in awe of our students a) reading ability, b) organization and professionalism.  Volunteers included: Roshan Nagappan, Alex Hernandez, Mark John Haak, Nate Miller, Diego Rivera, Francis Gabriel Domingo, Daniel Antillon, Matthew Scheller and Andrew Nguyen.  Please congratulate all these gentlemen on a job well done.
