The Wrangler. Here at The Wrangler office, we’ve had a lot of time on our hands, so we emptied out the fridge and found this non-perishable morsel of tasty satire, unspoiled. Here’s the somewhat delayed, much-anticipated Edition 75!

Please note the following update to the Distance Learning Protocol for Students and Parents document and particularly this section:  What if students are ill or lose access to the internet?   If a student is unable to engage in digital work due to illness, parents/guardians should call the Dean’s Office at  (602) 264-5291, extension 6260, before 9:30 a.m. on each day of his absence. Faculty will provide extensions or  exemptions as needed per their usual practice regarding absences.  If a student does not have or loses regular access to the internet at home, parents/guardians should also alert the Dean’s Office as soon as possible. What if students have technical or computer problems?  Students should follow standard troubleshooting steps if they experience problems (quit the app, restart their  computer, restart their home wifi router, etc.). If the problem does not resolve, students should call the Dean’s Office at  (602) 264-5291, extension 6260 and may need to come to the Innovation Commons Technology Center on campus for  help or a loaner computer.

Here is a short video from last week’s rehearsal of Lear 1984 with Brophy-Xavier Theatre. Our spring “Shakespeare in the Park” performance is now going digital. We are adapting the five-act play into a five-episode mini-series. In this video clip, you can hear the cast laughing and sharing a moment of joy, trying to find a bright side as we navigate the unknown. For context, Shakespeare was a fan of “puns” and we found a doozy. The quarantine in our digital production is the “Verona virus” instead of the Coronavirus. You may recognize Verona as the setting for Romeo and Juliet. Enjoy this sneak peek!

Brophy Shakespeare in the Park presents:  Lear 1984 Original Text by William Shakespeare

Adapted & Directed by Ms. Carolyn Marie Wright    Stagecraft Design by Mr. Marc A. Kelly ’87
